BBP:
What Are Broadband Properties?
Broadband Properties are
large commercial and residential properties with high-speed internet access
built-in. Examples would be colleges, corporation's headquarters, etc... These
properties require a fast internet connection to satisfy the computing demands
of all the occupants. When setting up these properties, a commercial internet
line is brought in to handle the speed required. Then, a local area network is
setup to provide a hub for individual computers to hook up to.
Alternatives:
Why Not Just Get DSL Or Cable Access For Each Occupant?
Currently many other
alternatives exist such as dsl and cable. But there are cons for each of them.
DSL takes just as long to enable as commercial access. It also creates many
bugs with existing phone services (caller id and call forwarding). DSL can
become more complicated than a commercial line and that is just for one
household. DSL will only provide internet access to/from the occupant and not
between occupants. Cable can only supply a connection for each cable modem you
purchase. That can make it very costly. Cable will also only provide internet
access to/from the occupant and not between occupants. Depending on the service
provider, prices can be high, platform support will vary, and for multiple
properties, different service providers will be needed not giving way for
volume pricing in your favor.
Bottomline:
